Nobody in the recorded history of the professional game has reached 1,000 official career goals; Pelé's four-figure folklore counts friendlies and unofficial tours, and Romário's celebrated total mixes in the same grey zone. Ronaldo would be the first to do it with only competitive goals on the meter.
