Transfer amortisation calculator

In one line: put in a fee and a contract length — and the yearly accounting charge, the book value in every season, and the profit or loss on any sale come out, with every step of the working shown.

Amortisation is why a £100m signing costs the accounts £20m a year instead of £100m at once, and why selling a player late in his deal books a big “profit”. The mechanics are explained in the full explainer; this tool runs the same arithmetic on your numbers. It is accounting arithmetic on figures you enter — it does not value players, predict fees or suggest anything to do with betting.

Enter a fee and a contract length to see the yearly charge.

What the numbers mean

Yearly amortisation is fee ÷ contract length: the straight-line charge the accounts carry every season of the deal. Book value is what is left of the fee after the seasons played so far — fee minus (yearly charge × years). Profit on sale is sale price minus book value, booked in the year of the sale: a player sold for more than his book value produces an accounting gain, and academy graduates — whose book value is near zero — produce gains from almost any fee. The tool shows every line so you can check it against any reported figure.

Two honest limits. First, this is the accounting view, not cash: fee instalments are negotiated separately, and wages sit on top of the amortised charge. Second, real club accounts add add-backs, impairments and league-specific adjustments — PSR calculations are the Premier League's own arithmetic on top of these basics, and the PSR explainer covers that layer. Nothing here places, suggests or prices a bet.
