Find paid, legitimate markets that welcome African and diaspora writers.
African writers have genuine options — the key is finding markets that actually welcome you and that pay.
Look for publications that name African and diaspora writers. BRYME records eligibility explicitly, including whether a market is restricted to Africans or to the African diaspora.
Understand the diaspora rules carefully. Some markets welcome Black African diasporas; others are restricted to African residents. Read the eligibility line, and BRYME shows it.
Watch the currency and how you will be paid. A fee quoted in a foreign currency may take a while to reach you or cost you fees. Note both.
Use the guidelines, not reposts. A third-party repost can be outdated or wrong. Confirm against the publication's own page.
Protect your work. Send to official channels, keep a record of every submission and its date, and never pay to be published.
