What BRYME's statuses mean.
Every publication page carries two separate signals: whether the publication is open, and whether BRYME has personally been through it. They are deliberately not the same thing.
1. Submission status — is the publication open?
This describes the publication, taken from its own guideline on the date in “Last verified”.

| 🟢 Currently accepting | The publication's own guideline said submissions were open on the date shown in “Last verified”. It is a timestamp, not a promise — always confirm on the official page before you pitch. |
| 🟢 Rolling submissions | The publication accepts work year-round rather than in windows. Still check the guideline: rolling markets close without notice. |
| 🟡 Opens soon | A future window has been announced. Note the date and prepare the pitch now. |
| 🟡 Limited window | Submissions are open only for a stated period. Check the closing date on the official guideline. |
| 🟡 Information needs verification | BRYME could not confirm the current state from the official guideline. Treat the details as unconfirmed until reverified. |
| 🔴 Currently closed | The guideline said submissions were closed when BRYME last checked. Many publications reopen — the record stays up so you can watch for it. |
2. BRYME's own record — has BRYME actually done this?
This describes BRYME, not the publication. It exists so you can tell researched listings apart from ones BRYME has personally tested.

| 🟡 Research only | BRYME researched the publication from its own guideline but has not submitted to it. Nothing on the page is a claim of acceptance, publication or payment. |
| 🔵 Submitted | BRYME personally sent a pitch or a piece to this publication and is waiting on the outcome. |
| 🟢 Accepted | BRYME pitched and the publication accepted. Payment is a separate step and is only shown once confirmed. |
| 📖 Published | BRYME's work appeared in the publication. |
| 💰 Paid | Payment actually landed. BRYME never marks this from a promise — only from money received. |
| 🔴 Rejected | BRYME submitted and was turned down. These stay published: a rejection is useful information about a market. |
| ⚪ Closed | BRYME's own journey with this publication ended without a decision — usually because the market closed. |
Why the emoji is never the only signal
Each badge carries its wording as text, not just a colour or an icon, so the meaning survives a screen reader, a monochrome screen and colour blindness. If you can only see the shape and not the colour, the label still tells you everything.
What “Last verified” means
It is the month a human at BRYME last opened the publication's official guideline and checked this record against it. It is shown to the month rather than the day because that is the honest resolution of the check — a guideline can change the day after any check, which is why every page links to the official source.
What BRYME will never claim
- That an open window guarantees acceptance, publication or payment.
- That a rate exists when the guideline does not state one.
- That BRYME was paid, until the payment has actually arrived.
- That a vacancy or opportunity belongs to BRYME when it belongs to the publication.
