Writing opportunities in United States

97 publications are based in United States, and 143 in total confirm in their own guidelines that they are open to writers from here. A further 144 do not state an eligibility rule either way.

A listing is an invitation to pitch, never a promise of acceptance or payment. Every entry links to the publication’s own guideline and the date BRYME last checked it.

Read the silence

Why so few figures are printed here

59 of the 97 publications based in United States print a pay figure in their own guidelines.

Desk-wide, 184 of the 304 publications BRYME tracks state a rate. The rest are not necessarily unpaid - most simply do not publish a rate card, and BRYME will not print a number the publication has not printed itself. So treat an empty pay row as an unanswered question to put to the editor, not as evidence of anything. Where a record does carry a figure, it is quoted exactly as stated and dated with the day it was read.

For United States, that means the 38 records without a figure are the part of this page to test by asking — a commissioned piece is where a rate gets named.

House style when you write for United States

Getting these wrong will not sink a good idea, but they are the fastest way for an editor to tell you have not read them.

Spelling-ize and -or: organize, color, honor, labor
DatesApril 3, 2026 — month first, comma after the day
CV or résuméRésumé, usually one page, never with a photo
QuotationDouble quotes, and commas and full stops go inside them

The largest market BRYME tracks, and the one most likely to state a per-word rate up front.
