What it does. Assembles a single reference in APA, MLA or Chicago style from the details you enter.

How to use it. Choose the style your institution or publication requires, then choose whether the source is a book, an article or a web page. Fill in what you have — author, title, container (the journal, website or newspaper), year, publisher and URL. The formatted reference updates as you type; copy it into your reference list.

Why it matters. Citation style is a mechanical rule set, and losing marks to a misplaced full stop is a waste. Formatting one reference correctly also teaches you the pattern, so the next twenty are faster. Always check the result against your own style sheet: editions differ, and the version your marker uses is the one that counts.
