About this tool

How to use the text cleaner.

What it does. Normalises messy pasted text: non-breaking spaces become normal spaces, doubled spaces collapse, whitespace around line breaks disappears, and three or more blank lines collapse to one.

How to use it. Paste text copied from emails, PDFs or web pages, then copy the cleaned version out. It is the fastest way to make imported text safe to edit - hidden non-breaking spaces are a classic cause of broken search and layout later.

Why it matters. Text from the real world arrives dirty. Cleaning it first means every later step - counts, find-and-replace, formatting - works on what you think you wrote.

Your data. The tool runs entirely in your browser - text you paste never leaves the page, and nothing is uploaded to a server.

Good to know

The cleaner never changes your words - only spacing, blank lines and invisible characters. That makes it safe to run before you proofread: what you read afterwards is what a publisher will receive.

Where this fits

Formatting tools are the honest kind of tidy: they change nothing you said, only how it is carried. Run them before proofreading, not after - there is no sense polishing text a cleanup pass is about to reshape, and a clean base makes every later check mean what it says.
