About this tool
How to use the duplicate line remover.
What it does. Deletes repeated lines, keeping the first occurrence of each and preserving the original order.
How to use it. Paste your list - keywords, tags, citation lines - and copy the deduplicated result. Lines count as duplicates only when they match exactly after trimming, so near-duplicates still deserve your eye.
Why it matters. Duplicated lines in a list or a data set undermine trust in everything around them. Mechanical deduplication is exhaustive in a way scanning by eye never is.
Your data. The tool runs entirely in your browser - text you paste never leaves the page, and nothing is uploaded to a server.
Good to know
Trailing spaces are trimmed before comparison, so 'item ' and 'item' count as one. Lines that differ by a single character or comma are not duplicates to the tool - scan the near-misses yourself.
Where this fits
Formatting tools are the honest kind of tidy: they change nothing you said, only how it is carried. Run them before proofreading, not after - there is no sense polishing text a cleanup pass is about to reshape, and a clean base makes every later check mean what it says.
