About this tool
How to use the word density calculator.
What it does. Shows your most frequent words and what share of the text each one is, so repetition and keyword-stuffing are visible at a glance.
How to use it. Paste the text and scan the top of the list. Function words like the and of will always lead; what matters is whether any content word - a name, a topic term, an adjective you lean on - appears far more than you intended.
Why it matters. Every writer has crutch words they cannot feel any more. Density is the objective mirror; cutting the echo makes prose read as crafted rather than looped.
Your data. The tool runs entirely in your browser - text you paste never leaves the page, and nothing is uploaded to a server.
Good to know
Stopwords are not filtered, so the top of every list is the usual suspects - scroll past them. What counts as 'too high' depends on the word: a character's name at 2% is fine; an adjective at 2% is a tic.
Where this fits
Analysis tools put numbers where a writer's blind spots live: the sentence you always write, the word you lean on, the reading level you drifted into. The number is never the verdict - it is the pointer. Read each flag in its sentence, keep what is deliberate, fix what is not.
